COMPASS shares a unique narrative of finding love through a queer lens. Having resided in Montreal, Paraguay, and Vancouver, Clements draws from these influences to curate a variety of styles, spanning from traditional swing music to South American Latin. Themes centre around the challenges of heartbreak and the pursuit of love, conveyed through chordal textures, harmonies, and rhythmic delivery. Many compositions feature a repetitive theme or cyclical groove, drawing the listener into his realm of thoughts. Each piece unfolds, progressing towards more intense jazz improvisation, creating an intriguing blend of structure and flexibility. These compositional tools mirror the romantic stories of Clements' life.
