Performance
Will Clements is a sonic architect from Vancouver, Canada. With three albums to his credit, he is described by CBC Music as having a "fantastic and easy voice...". He has performed at renowned events, including the World Symposium on Choral Music in Istanbul with the Vancouver Youth Choir (2023), and has been featured as "the best jazz on Bandcamp.com" (August 2023). Other performance highlights include being a finalist in the Niagara Jazz Festival Youth Contest (2022), receiving an Outstanding Ensemble Award for leading and arranging at the Vocal Impact Festival (2020), earning a full scholarship to the Drayton Harbour Festival Camp in Washington (2016), and performing at the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans (2016). Throughout his career, Will has shared the stage with many notable artists, including Dee Daniels, Maria Schneider, Peter Bernstein, Bria Skonberg, and Dawn Pemberton, as part of his studies at Capilano University. Composition A dedicated composer and arranger, Will’s works have been performed internationally by ensembles such as the Vancouver Youth Choir, the Asian Pacific Youth Choir, and Western University's Chorale Ensemble. His arrangements have gained significant recognition, making him a twice best-selling arranger (Top 10) on Anchor Music, and his compositions are published on Kerry Marsh and Cypress Music. He continues to arrange and compose for a variety of groups, balancing his passion for choral and jazz music with innovative musical storytelling. Education: As an educator and conductor, Will Clements is committed to choral excellence and music education. He is the Director of Choirs and General Music at Argyle Secondary in North Vancouver, where he leads a dynamic program that fosters musicianship and creativity. In addition to his teaching role, he is the Co-Artistic Director (with Danny Najjar) for the NVSD Choral Festival and the lead for the SONG SUMMIT choral event at Argyle Secondary. He is also on faculty for the VSO School of Music as an instructor for Vocal Jazz activities. His leadership extends beyond the classroom, having served as the Intern Conductor for the BC Youth Choir in 2024, and he is an in-demand clinician for community and school ensembles. |
Recipient of the Dr. Marela Dichupa Memorial Graduate Award in Arts Education, and the UBC Greg Quan Prize in Music Education (2021), as well as an Outstanding Practicum Award, Will continues to arrange and compose music for various ensembles in his spare time. His compositions and arrangements continue to be performed internationally by various ensembles including the Vancouver Youth Choir, the Asian Pacific Youth Choir, and Western University's Chorale Ensemble. He has served as the intern conductor of the BC Youth Choir under the direction of Dr. Tracy Wong (2024), and as a clinician for several secondary music programs. He is currently the director of choirs and general music at Argyle Secondary in North Vancouver, the Co-Artistic Director of the NVSD Choral Festival, and a vocal ensemble instructor at the VSO School of Music.
When not working on music, Will is either persuing his masters in Arts Education at Simon Fraser University, or sitting at home, watching 'Severance' with his husband, Eric.
